@los-plantalones an update on the Lithops I asked you about ages ago: it’s started splitting!! So now I know exactly where it is in its cycle and how much water to give it (none). I guess L. salicola must just be a really late splitter? Cause spring is in full swing down here, and it’ll be summer before very long

It’s okay to water when you notice lithops start to split! Usually they start splitting sometime in spring or fall and this is THE signal to begin watering. Start with just a sip at first, always letting the soil dry out completely each time. Work up to a few deep waterings and stop by the time midsummer comes.

And at that point you should leave it dry until the old leaves are completely drained by the new ones and look like nothing but dry paper.
